Displaced & Refugee Christians Lebanon's Christians
War erupted in the summer of 2006 that had a devastating impact on the people in Lebanon, Israel and in Gaza and the West Bank. Lebanon’s Christians as well experienced the humanitarian emergency wrought by the hostilities. Many thousands were and continue to be displaced as entire Christian communities in south Lebanon were destroyed or abandoned....read more
Iraqi Christians
Ephesus Saints, Inc. helps to provide financial support to a ministry in Jordan that directs the effort with displaced Iraqi Christians. This program has been ongoing since 2003 and continues today as hostilities in Iraq continue to displace and affect Christian families. This ministry in Jordan has been, for example, instrumental in establishing a church in Iraq with the first evangelical pastor ordained in Iraq's history. This organization works directly with Iraqi churches to assist displaced families in Iraq as well as Christians who were and are forced to flee hostilities and persecution to Jordan....read more
Palestinian Christians
There is perhaps no more difficult area in the world today for Christians to live, work and worship than in Jerusalem and in the greater land where God planted the very seed of Christ 2000 years ago. Today, Christians make up a small minority in the Holy Land and among Palestinians. Their numbers have decreased substantially throughout the years. No doubt, geopolitical, economic and religious dynamics in the West Bank, Gaza, East Jerusalem and the surrounding area have created uncertainties, at times danger, and challenges for Palestinian Christians. read more
Church Building & Construction Church in Amman
This group showed me their 1/3 built church and expressed the vision for the mission of their ministry and community outreach. There is a severe shortage of church facilities throughout the Middle East. Once a land approval is granted, usually required from the government, paying for the land and the constructing of the facilities is a challenge for such a typically small committed group of believers. I learned that they build the church in sections and begin to use a completed section only to build another section when the funds are raised. This church group has plans for a dental and family medical center on the bottom floor of the church as an outreach to the surrounding community. This medical center will provide free services by Christian medical professionals committed to the vision of this project. This completed church building will also be able to offer space for use by other churches and Christian organizations.
Lebanon Christian Conference Center
This is a much needed project that will provide a major conference center for Christian churches and organizations from Lebanon and from throughout the Middle East. The total cost of the project is approximately $4,000,000.00. The 13 acres upon which the conference center will be built has already been purchased. As is noted in other sections of this website, because of the substantial Christian population in Lebanon and the relative freedom of Christians to meet and associate, Lebanon serves and a focal point or center for the entire Christian community in the Middle East.
A Local Chuch Outside Amman, Jordan
This church is located in a Middle East city with a population of more than 900,000 with 65% of the people living below the poverty line. This church has many outreach programs. They have planted 3 churches in the area with a vision to plant more and provide training for lay leadership through their Education and Training Center. The church has an outreach program to the country of Sudan where it assists in the planting of churches. They also have a Medical Clinic to serve the poor population and the surrounding area. Funds are needed for medications--$3,000.00 monthly, and for administration costs--$24,000.00 annually.
Pastoral & Lay Leader Training Fund Arab Christian Theological Seminaries
The Theological Seminaries help fulfill one of the great needs of existing churches throughout the Middle East—trained and capable pastors and teachers. The cost of training a student is approximately $10,000.00. Ephesus Saints, Inc. encourages individuals and churches to sponsor partial or whole scholarships that enable students of extremely modest means to receive this training.
Christian Secondary Schools A Baptist School
The strength of this school is the excellence with which it provides an educational institution for all peoples—Christians, Muslims and peoples of other faiths and cultures in the heart of an important country in the Middle East region. As a school-age and worker-age Middle East population emerges, this school is at the forefront in providing young people with the education and skills necessary to equip them for the challenges of the 21st century.
An Elementary School Academy
This school provides an outstanding education from the elementary to the high school level to students who are from overseas or foreign. The parents of these students typically serve in international positions that include working with an N.G.O office providing services for this particular country, ministering to refugees from many parts of the Middle East, teaching at the local seminary that serves students from all over the area, studying Arabic to prepare for posts in other Arab speaking countries, or support work in local churches. The school provides a strong academic program with an intentionally Christian worldview in every subject area.
Tuition rates are kept low to help serve every income level. The academy is the only completely English speaking school whose tuition is affordable to families working for non-government organizations. The only other schools with a completely English curriculum start at around $10,000/year/child. Tuition is around $3,000/year/child. That makes a big difference for many Christian families being able to come to work overseas. The student body does include non-Christians whose parents work in Jordan with the government or with private businesses.
The academy has such an reputation of excellence that it operates at full student capacity with a waiting list. The academy presently rents the building in which it operates with the goal of purchasing or constructing it’s own larger facility.
Christian Service Work Arab Women's Ministry
This is a vital ministry that reaches perhaps the most un-reached and under-served population in the Arab world, Arab women. This organization’s work includes reaching Arab women by: Presenting subjects that deal with family, health, raising children and educational topics; Encouraging and helping Arab women develop healthy views of their self-worth; Providing a forum for Arab women to present their views, opinions, problems and burdens; Offering a network of well-trained women and men to provide confidential counseling; Teaching moral and spiritual principles from the word of God. Their outreach programs include radio broadcasts, a website (electronic magazine format), training forums and personal follow-up networking. Their programs and services require an annual budget of approximately $300,000.00.
Legal Counsel to the Christian Community
In the various countries in the Middle East where Christians are a minority group, while religious rights may be guaranteed in a country's constitution, Christians are still arrested and imprisoned as a result of questions and issues regarding their religious practices. There is as such the opportunity and need to provide legal defense services to the detained or imprisoned Christians. Unfortunately, such legal services may not be available or affordable by the accused Christians.
Ephesus Saints is working with Christian lawyers in the Middle East to help provide the funding for the legal defense of Christians as well as pro bono work on behalf of poor and defenseless non-Christians in the areas of Ephesus Saint's mission.
